Schnauzer- The body of a schnauzer should be well complimented therefore creating a skirt that enhances the muscular features of the specific dog. If the dog is overweight try bringing the pattern up higher on the body, this will make the dog look healthy and skinnier. If the dog is skinny thin, try dropping the skirt lower maybe even slightly under the belly, making the dog have more fullness. The pattern for a schnauzer looks like this:

The dark gray area should all be shaved with a #10 blade. Your main points you can use is simply like connect the dots! The back of the ear flap, the breast bone, the top part of the front legs, the tip top of the tuck up flap, the bone on the back leg hock area.
Blend the skirt into the body using thinning shears or slightly skimming your #7 blade like blending a colors in painting. All edges of the skirt should be rectangular in appearance and angled off.
Westie, Cairn- The pattern is very similar EXCEPT when you get to the tuck up, continue shaving around to the base of the tail. There is no drop down the leg. Neaten and scissor up skirt to finish.
